Hi Everyone, I don't often post on the forum, but wondered what others thoughts were on my dilemma. I had to miss last weeks Methotrexate because of a chesty cough and was taking antibiotics. This cleared up, but started with a heavy cold last night. I am due to take my Methotrexate 25mg today, but have been told in the past not to take if you get a cold. This would mean I would miss two weeks in total if I don't take it. I am also on Sulphasalazine and Hydroxy. What do others do on the forum? Many thanks Candy

Hi Candy
If I were you I would ring your GP or rheummy nurse in the morning and see what they think. You can always tak the mtx tomorrow - a day late won't make any difference.
I usually tend to stop my mtx if I have an infection but not a cold. However, if you have been an antibiotics, I think it is safer to check.
Hope you soon feel better.
Love Jeanxx

Hi, Many thanks Jean and Julie for your replies. Didn't realize I could take them a day late. So I think I will take your advice and phone rheumy nurse tomorrow. Happy New Year Candy

I'm afraid I forget mine regularly, Candy. You must never take them a day early, but late is OK. They do tend to stay in your system for a month or so, so even when I had to miss them for a few weeks after an op, the RA didn't go into overdrive.
Take care Love Jeanxxxx

I would do exactly as the lovely Jean suggests. I often have missed my mtx too.
You can change days as long as you have the same time (one week) between each dose.
Hope you feel much better very soon,
Love, Amanda

Hi Misty, Must admit I am a bit naughty when it comes to taking my metho, because it makes me feel tired and poorly I don't take it when i am going on holiday. Because of my blood results, a couple of times, the rheumy nurse has phoned and told me not to take it till they tell me too, this has happened a few times with no bad effects. So a quick chat with your nurse or even the hospital pharmacist should help.
All the best John.
